One of three movies I was looking forward to in the second half of the year along with Dhoom 3 and The Lunch Box, Shuddh Desi Romance scores comfortably! Beautifully filmed across Jaipur and generously sprinkled with some hilarious & well-written lines, this ballsy film flows breezily through most of its two hour run-time while delivering a very relevant message. For a change, even the very hummable & gorgeously shot songs feel perfectly placed. Parineeti is terrific (as you’d expect) in her different-than-usual turn, Sushant Singh Rajput nails the confused doofus to perfection and Vani Kapoor’s awkward charm combined with a pleasant screen presence fit to a tee. It’s great to see Rishi Kapoor turn in a seriously funny and not so over-the-top performance. My only gripe was with the rather muddled last act, which doesn’t spoil an otherwise very nifty watch of this Spicy Delicacy of a रोमांस!
