HIGHWAY – Quick thoughts

Imtiaz Ali’s Highway was such a gorgeous, frustrating watch. There’s quite a bit I liked about the movie – it’s wonderfully shot across a host of stunning locales across India, exquisitely scored by A R Rahman and wonderfully performed by its leading lady Alia Bhatt – tremendous for her second film and well complimented by the intensely brooding Randeep Hooda.  However, as it progresses along its journey along with our protagonists, it begins to ebb more than flow and meanders along aimlessly to a dragged out climax which left me feeling rather hollow by the end of it all. This highway does take the scenic route, albeit to nowhere I’d have liked to stay.
